“Sirens of the Lambs”
What’s the Newest Message From the Artist?
If you don’t know Banksy and his infamous graffiti landmarks strewn throughout popular international cities, then you should probably do a little catching up. Guarantee you’ve come across some of his notable work before or seen his documentary. I recently came across a new artwork of his which is a representation of a show he put on in New York last fall called “Sirens of the Lambs”. The name itself gives the whole theme of the installation, portraying the bad guy image of the meat industry.
The idea behind the “Sirens of the Lambs” project was actually pretty different in incorporating some Muppet creativity and technology to give the real-life effect of animals praying for their mercy. Having a truck driver drive the Muppet-like stuffed animals around the city for a couple weeks was an interesting mix in getting a word out and in scaring a few kids along the way. Wouldn’t that creep you out if you were a little kid?
However, the new artwork is also something I would definitely get framed. The grayed out truck and numerous colored animals poking their heads out stops you for a minute to think about the piece. It’s  good to see Banksy’s unique work once again. Each time is something different and reflects a new message he tries to get across to the audience. What do you think of the moving slaughterhouse and the idea behind “Sirens of the Lambs”?
